As envisioned by the newly-elected president and officers of the Boys Town Alumni Association in their induction last April 16, 2010, their first activity is to hold a Family Day for the alumni and their family members with the goal of rediscovering each other after years of separation.
On the day of the "big" event, as early as 7 am, the alumnus began to arrived, families in tow, bringing foods to share with everyone, even for the current Boys Town wards. With eyes aglow with big expectations that their long lost friends will be there to share this big moment, one by one, and in group, the alumnus began to trickle until everyone didn't know whom to speak to because of the tremendous outpouring of visitors coming from every corner of this great country.
It was a picture of success. The president is happy. And now he is tinkering of future moves and will map out plans and goals that is geared toward helping the institution that once helped them, helping needy alumni, and help the current wards as well. This is a daunting task that needs the helping hands of everybody.
Now, the challenge is, what "little" help can one provides? "I am also in dire needs, how can I help?" Friends, there are 1000 and 1 way to skin a cat, as the saying goes. You can be of great help if you are there, yes, your own physical being. And that will count as a big boost to everyone. Your mere presence counts a lot. Just be there, nothing else.
Thats all for now. If you have anything to say, please leave a note, post what's on your mind. Let's share this site with our thoughts.
Thank you and best regard,
ERNIE BARRERA
